The office furniture manufacturer’s goals were to develop a new packaging scheme for its desks that would save space and provide better product protection.
Before, desks were shipped in the user position, in a corrugated box with a wooden frame and telescoping tubes, then tied with flimsy plastic straps. With Veritiv’s help, desks were placed on one end and stretch wrapped, then secured with corrugated caps and honeycomb pads. No more wooden frames or corrugated material (except for end caps).
By dramatically decreasing the number of desk packaging parts, Veritiv’s creative solution helped the manufacturer streamline inventory management, free up more than 6,000 square feet of floor space and reduce the weight of packaging and packaging waste by 50%.
