THE CHAllenge

The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is the fourth-largest convention center in the U.S., and hosts more than a million visitors each year in its 3.9 millions square feet of meeting space. As a nearly 40 year-old venue with year-round traffic, the restroom facilities at the GWCC were outdated and worn. So, the GWCC turned to Veritiv™ to update its restroom facilities with personal hygiene dispensers that created a more sanitary environment, reduced maintenance costs, and achieved sustainability standards to support LEED® green cleaning program efforts.

The Veritiv™ Solution

Because of the size of the center, a Veritiv facility advisor implemented a multi-phase plan.

  • All of the 450 multi-fold towel dispensers were replaced with roll towel dispensers and installed between events in the various convention halls
  • • The bulk soap delivered by the old wall- and counter-mounted dispensers were replaced with wall-mounted foam soap dispensers that likely reduced the risk of bacteria transmission

The conversion to roll towels and foam soap resulted in meaningful cost savings to the GWCC, in addition to supporting their LEED® initiative. Both solutions required fewer change outs per dispenser, creating lower maintenance costs and an overall lower product cost. And, the uniform environment enhanced the aesthetics of the facility for guests.
