Veritiv operates in more than 250 communities across North America. Driven by our core values and Veritiv Connects, our community and philanthropy program, we focus on corporate giving and employee volunteering to help shape the success of these communities.
Veritiv is proud to partner with Junior Achievement and the American Red Cross, providing in-kind donations, monetary support, and Veritiv volunteer teams, in support of our primary corporate responsibility focal areas: Learning and Healthy Living.
Veritiv partners with Junior Achievement to provide middle and high school students with business knowledge and skills they need to plan for the future. As part of our Veritiv Connects initiative, Veritiv employees volunteer at Junior Achievement's Discovery Centers for in-person mentoring with students.
Veritiv’s team members volunteer with the American Red Cross to aid in relief efforts from hurricanes, tornadoes, wild fires and other natural disasters. The team makes financial contributions, organizes blood drives in an effort to help end the emergency blood shortage, and creates comfort kits that have been distributed to displaced victims to help with basic necessities.
Communities are unique. Along with national programs, Veritiv employees embrace local opportunities to extend their time and talent and product donations. These include food banks, Habitat for Humanity, International Coastal and Park Clean-ups, Stuff the Bus, Love Rolls, and Toys for Tots, to name a few. One of our primary focus areas is healthy living, and team members demonstrate that by helping to clean up our communities and give to those less fortunate.
Employees should have a safe, productive work environment. Our Target Zero approach symbolizes our goal of zero unrecognized and unresolved hazards that can lead to injuries. All employees are empowered and encouraged to recognize areas for improvement. In 2018 our Total Incident Rate (TIR)1 for our operations in North America was 0.99.
Introduced in 2017, SCORE (Stop, Consider, Observe, React and Execute), facilitates communication to workers about how to approach daily tasks, regardless of how routine the task may be.
MHE SAFE focuses on the safe operation of Material Handling Equipment.
1 TIR is calculated using the OSHA criteria for recordability and OSHA calculation methodologies.
We recognize our distribution business has an impact on the environment. As such, we focus our environmental sustainability efforts in three areas: our fleet, our facilities and our products.
