A new home for the
Space Shuttle Endeavour:

California Science Center

THE CHAllenge

The California Science Center is a large hands-on science center, named the most popular museum destination in Southern California. And this one-of-a-kind space had a one-of-a-kind request—to build a museum quality, polished home that was strong and durable enough to hold the 172,000-pound Space Shuttle Endeavour.

The Veritiv™ Solution

A Veritiv facility advisor introduced them to a winning combination—the 3M™ Trizact™ Diamond HX Discs and Scotchguard™ stone system, the products they used to finish the new building’s 17,000-square-foot-concrete floor. These products provided a diamond shine while accommodating the space shuttle’s impressive weight.

The Endeavour, a national treasure, now has a home for life, and the California Science Center visitors can enjoy the space shuttle for years to come. The new floor:

  • Resists staining, scratching and black marks
  • Requires less maintenance than traditional floor finishes
  • Saves the center thousands of dollars in maintenance labor costs
